Even supermarkets now use them to track pallets of goods. RFID means Radio Frequency Identification - little sealed plastic tags that can be accurately tracked from their emitted signal. We have applied this to help sport and are working with two sports at present to create systems that will give realtime information on split times and progress through stages; the data being quickly transmitted back to a base station; and can be automatically sent on be text message or email to recipients.
